Prompto Argentum
The lustre of having a new child wore off pretty quickly because by the time Prompto was in school all day when he was maybe six or seven, they began to travel for work extensively, leaving Prompto alone unsupervised to raise himself. Prompto engaged in terrible habits, like defaulting to eating junk food because he couldn't really cook for himself. This caused him to gain a decent amount of weight.
As a young child, he rescued an injured puppy that happened to belong to Lunafreya Nox Fleuret. She wrote him a kind letter, suggesting he befriend Noctis and Prompto's first attempt went poorly. He became easily embarrassed when Noctis slightly commented about his weight and his looks and he decided he needed an entire new makeover to be worthy of being Noctis' friend. Prompto would work hard until he was fifteen, taking up running, trying to gain confidence he didn't have and he swapped his glasses for contacts.
They met the first day of school in high school and Prompto played it off as though they'd never met before and they instantly bonded over their love of video games - both semi-introverts who needed friends more than anything. Prompto lived a very charmed life for the next five years, and when he was 18 he submitted himself to the Crownsguard under Noctis' recommendation. He would study and work hard, being given the pass just in time to accompany Noctis on his road trip to get married at age 20.
As soon as they left, Insomnia would fall to the Empire, essentially turning Lucis over to Niflheim overnight. Stateless, the four would work together to try and get Noctis prepared for the battle ahead. Notably, after leaving Altissia on their way to Tenebrae, Prompto would be shoved from the train and left to Ardyn due to the latter's tricks. Prompto was psychologically tormented and tortured, forced to kill the man who created him and when he thought he was free, he was snatched up and tortured. Noctis would come to his aid, but in the end he was sucked into the crystal before the day was done.
Over the next ten years, Prompto has had to deal with what happened to him, and he has had to deal with the utter chaotic state of the world and he with Ignis and Gladio do their best to keep everything together for Noctis' return, despite the fact the trio grow apart from each other over that time period.
Since Noctis' disappearance, a decade ago, he's been running the hunter outpost out of Hammerhead, undertaking dangerous missions and doing the best he can to help what little population of Lucis remains to survive. Notably, Prompto is one who never lost hope in Noctis returning - which he did, for but a brief 24 hour period.
With Noctis engaging in the necessary sacrifice, Prompto is not sure what he is going to do with his life, although hunting seems like a fairly good route for him - he's very accomplished in this area. He's more interested in letting Ignis deal with the political fallout, he's never had an eye for politics himself.
Physical Attributes He's definitely a fluffy pomeranian, with sharpened teeth, adorable ears and the floofiest tail. He can have his ears and tail out or not, they often pop out when he's over excited.
Non-physical Qualities He's a little more excitable thanks to his dog-like nature that comes with the role. He's incredibly loyal.
Reasoning Prompto is not a natural born leader. While he has come into his own and garnered significant respect from the hunting community, and those in Lestallum in the capacity of a soldier, he's not usually the guy making the plans. Noctis is, and was, the best thing that ever happened to him and he would follow and serve him to every end of Eos and beyond. On his own, he kind of drifts, not really sure where or how he fits into places. He's not the most confident person, and he's plagued with severe social anxiety in the most stressful of circumstances. He never considered a life where he made a choice and made his way in the world, for him, it's been all about living for another and he takes that vow very seriously.
